What is “Buffy the vampire slayer” ? part 3
One of the first tv shows focused on strong female characters, making the heroine, Buffy Summers, a feminist icon. After 10 years, we still remember each one of these characters: independent, fierce, warrior, bad ass. It’s not only about physical strength or how well they use their weapons, it’s about their journey (emotional pain…) and how they get through the worst, stronger than ever. They came to win, to fight, to rise.
TEN DAYS OF BUFFY | DAY 03 | A CHARACTER YOU FEEL IS UNDERAPPRECIATED
You learn her source, and we’ll introduce her to her insect reflection. Um… that, that was funny…if you, um, if you studied Taglarin mythic rights…and are a complete dork.
Buffy: I’m sorry you have to go through all this.
Tara: You don’t have to worry about me.
Buffy: Everybody wants to help. I don’t even know if I’m… here. I don’t know what’s going on. Never done this. (pauses) That’s just an amazingly dumb thing to say. Obviously I’ve never done this before.
Tara: I have. My mother died when I was seventeen.
Buffy: I didn’t know. I’m sorry.
Tara: No, no, I didn’t mean to… (sighs) I’m only telling you this because… I know it’s not my place, but… There’s things, thoughts and reactions I had that… I couldn’t understand… or even try to explain to anyone else. Thoughts that made me feel like I was losing it… or, like I was some kind of horrible person. I know it’s different for you, because it’s always different, but if you ever need….
Buffy: Was it sudden?
Buffy: Your mother.
Tara: No. Yes. It’s always sudden.
